Hi, back again with a little question
Hi As the title say I've returned to CIC after a brief disappearance. I've started to put watermarks on all my photos when i upload them to facebook and flickr, as I was having trouble with people stealing them and claiming them as their own work. I'm interested to hear how others have got over this problemor am I just being particularly touchy?

David
This topic regularly generates a lot of (sometimes passionate) debate.
There are many of us who think that the only thing putting a watermark on an image does is ruin it. It's the easiest thing in the world to remove and if someone wants to steal your image they'll do it and just take the watermark out.
If you're posting up low res images into a website, then what is someone else going to do with it? Claim it for their own. Well, doing that is the sincerest form of flattery. Is it going to cost you money? - No, unless the person sells it to an outlet that you were going to sell it to as well.
It's annoying. And it breaches your copyright. But if we're willing to post up our work onto such an uncontrolled, open environment as the web, then we effectively sign up to the risks that go with that.
Others will disagree with me. Then you have to make up your own mind.

Thanks Donald, Think I'll upload the unwatermarked images here but keep them watermarked on facebook.
