bee on a flower
Hi
The top photo is a crop of the below attachment. I am not sure why the attachment is smaller than my original photo.
I generally struggle with the composition of all genres. So, I am wanting to ask if there is a better crop in the original photo?
Also, are there general compositional guidelines on insects in it's environment?

Re: bee on a flower
The only thing I would consider as an alternative, Steven, is to crop to a different ratio, say 5 x 4 for example, to reduce the out of focus area on the right.
Sometimes, I find that a bit of rotation before cropping can put the subject (insect) in a better position. But that wouldn't have made any difference in this case.
A good shot.

Geoff, thanks for the input.
5 x 4 as in landscape format, right?

Steven,
I would take a 5x4 or maybe a 3x2 crop of the image... having the vertical edge being the longer side (so portrait orientation - basically just cutting off the two sides of the original image). This would allow you to keep the whole center portion of the flower, giving some more balance to the insect itself.
