Re: Longs Peak - Rocky Mountain National Park
For me, the image with the most potential is the second one. Consider ignoring Long's Peak and look for other compositions within the image that take advantage of the nice layers and colors in the lower left quadrant of the image.

Re: Longs Peak - Rocky Mountain National Park
With the first one, Kathy, I assume a patch of cloud cast a shadow over part of the scene. A common problem which I often encounter. Although this summer it has been more a case of a flash of sunshine than a small piece of cloud.
I was wondering about cropping tighter to remove the sunny patch so it wouldn't look as 'banded'; but I'm not really sure if it would work.
There is a patch of shadow in the second photo but it follows the landscape so doesn't cause such a problem.

Hi Cathy,
Two pictures I can appriciate. What camera are you using? Can you tweak it to shoot more vivid colours?
Have to agree with Mike that the second one is the better of the two, if I had to choose.

I like the light layers in the first one Kathy.
You can probably enhance colors and tonalities in PP.

Re: Longs Peak - Rocky Mountain National Park
Thanks to all for looking at my photo's. My personal favorite of the two is the second photo and as far as enhancing the colors in PP I have done that on these photo's but I do not like to do it so much that the photo looks fake. Thanks again for your comments and advice.
Kathy
