I really like the second one. Both great shots though, nicely done!
I also really like the 2nd one! Nice Pose! That bird is a natural!
Thanks both,
Now there's a surprise, I quite preferred the first one because of the clean composition and the lead in line of the tube!
But if we're into 'character' shots, there's plenty more where that came from, it kept looking at me oddly (can't imagine why )
I think I'll limit myself to just one more here (to follow this evening).
Super shots, Dave, loads of lovely feather details in them.
I just love the 'expression' on the bird's face in the second, I think he was wondering what you're up to
Nice shots, Dave.
If I was God, I would create this thing a little bit more colorful or maybe a little bit of adjustment in PP??; it would help with their mating too...
Hi Alis,
These pigeons are a bit bland (any colour you want as long as it is grey) compared to the UK model some with irridescent colours on the neck.
Here's another, with a little more colour (plus I bumped saturation up a bit too), but looking a ruffled.
1/750s @ f8, ISO200 at 135mm.
The implied lack of success in mating comment you made is obviously spot on; there were no where near as many pigeons in Tenerife as there are in London
As for expressions, this one was a little more wary of me, as you can see, it is ready to 'jump'.
I'm not so happy with this shot, given I have focused on the eye, and it is facing away from me, I have a distinct (lack of) DoF problem with the foreground wings and tail being soft - let that be a lesson to us all.
Thanks to all,

Nice crisp shots. I like #1 best.
Chuck
Actually, it's a Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/bird...dove/index.asp which is why the colours are different from the feral pigeon in UK (which are all descended from the Rock Dove), or the Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus). They can also be separated by their calls, the Collared Dove has a three-note call, and the wood pigeon a five-note call. (Just showing off now! )
Nice shots...
