Hello,

I just stumbled upon this stupendous site today (via dpreview.com--D800 forum,) and decided to join you. The "vibes" of this site are outstanding, no doubt reflecting the personality of the founder (Sean?)

I am relatively new to digital photography, having spent most of my time in the past shooting film. So I am struggling to rush up the learning curve.

I shoot with a Nikon D-800/E in studio (a makeshift home studio) and am waiting for an Olympus OM-D/E-M5 which I will use for street photography.

Since I have a lot to learn about digital photography, I look forward to interacting with those of you that I can learn from.

Again, I find the "zen" of this site to be fantastic; I look forward to sharing in the future.

Oh, yes...I am in Miami, Florida, USA. I consider myself a citizen of the world.

Hi global18 and welcome to CiC! Most of us update our profile so that we can call each other by something more friendly than our logon. It's also a good idea to post a relative location so that we have an idea what part of the world we are in for product/service recommendations. Just pop to the top of this screen to Forum Actions and Edit Profile.

Thank you, Frank and wlou.
I have posted my personal information; hopefully, I did it right (computers and I have a chilly relationship.)
I am presently shooting with a Nikon D-800/E; I'm expecting an Olympus OM-D/E-M5 shortly (for street photography.) So, I have a double learning curve ahead of me.
I will be primarily using Lightroom and Nikon Capture for post-processing.

Warm welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have you join us.

Talking of 'warm'; I visited the Miami area a few years ago, in November, I could certainly get used to your winter climate
Just not so sure about the heat in summer and the hurricanes though

You will have 'fun' choosing lenses to make the most of all that resolution (esp. for the "/E" version), we have a thread on that here you may find helpful.
