Post Dark Photography

Steve: I took a copy and tried something, I didn't think that it would work, however it did. Not bad with the image posted would be better with the full file. I use NIK silver Efex Pro 2, I applied it to the shot and used the Grad ND(EV-2) preset as a starting point and a B&W also works with the image. It it not to often that both a colour and a B&W both look great, I though still lean to the colour image, but damn that B&W.

Steve: here is "London by Floodlight" B&W, it is hard to post someone else's image, a great one at that, in a completely different style. I love the orginal, hope this one comes up to at least 25% of the greatness of your orginal image.

The George Inn Clock; a galleried inn in Southwark frequented by Dickens. I'm lucky to get anything because customers complained about taking photo's.

It is two images; one at 1.6 sec 100iso f4 73mm and the other at 1/200 sec and I've tried to merge them.

Here's a stitched panorama taken at night, showing the Dubai Marina Waterfront. There are lots of harsh point sources of light, so I bracketed in each frame within the panorama

9 images, each with 5 bracketed exposures, manual WB, ISO 200, 70mm

The 1/2 size original picture can be seen here, and zoomed into, and the small picture is visible in this post

Just to prove how hard this is; maybe the shadows are too deep because ordinary folk don't have calibrated screens.

0.6 sec 100iso 200mm f4 and I'm pretty sure my tripod isn't staying still since this is best out of 8.



I also wanted to get the London Eye in but that is a step too hard.

Not too impressive here but was there and hard because this is a very busy place. Hopefully the colour is right but I remember the bridge posts were grey.

Actually there was a knocking sound right next to me Bruce; I couldn't work out where it was coming from but it didn't seem to bother anybody else.

This photo brought back memories but digging out photos from my student days I see that mine was of the Anchor, a pub frequented by Samuel Johnson, and I found a photo taken from Southwark bridge, probably on the same jaunt around that part of London as the Anchor.

I think if somebody has got a fisheye they can get a very interesting image of the George and Shard. Cheers for that Bruce, there is lots of places around here that are old.

Phil those shot are amazing, my daugther spent a month there 2 yrs ago, as part of her teaching program. Steve great images of London, look forward to seeing more, Big Ben is just great and the eye look good in it.
Well I went out to try to shoot Healey Fall in the moon light, shot a number of images trying to find the best method, what I ended up doing was the load a number in Photoshop and had it stack them as if was making a pan. Now the thing was the exposures, f-stops and ISO were all over the place 8 seconds to 60 seconds, f8 to f11 and ISO100, 400,800. Just loaded eight images in and waited to see what would happen, because some were quite dark, some medium lightness, and some brighter they worked, added some layers, cloning, crop and I think the experiment turned out quite well.
Well you guys will be the judge.
