Greetings from the land of corn and soybeans (and not much else)

I'm new to this stuff so be kind.

Living in the Rural part of Illinois, it's hard to get good photographs without traveling. Other than the nearby State Parks, it's nothing but corn and soybeans. I'm looking forward to learning more about photography and taking my photos to the next level.

I'm using Nikon D90 and Nikon 1 cameras. The D90 is used for when I want to get serious about my Photos, the Nikon 1 is a great walkabout camera (just in case there is a good shot while I'm hiking)

I've been lurking on this site for quite a while, but never looked into the forums until today. I must say, it looks to be a much friendlier forum than others I've been to. So, here I am ready to go. I think I'll enjoy this one.

Welcome Bomber "Bill". The world is an interesting place for the man with a keen eye. From the macro to the stars, your choice. Humm, the stars must be realy bright where you are. Land of the big skys? Sunsets perhaps?

Welcome Bomber. I don't know where in Illinois you are, but 5 miles west of Peoria is Wildlife Prairie Park. Every animal that ever roamed free in Illinois is there. They have Cougar, Bison, elk, Deer, Black Bear, Badger, Red Fox, Gray Fox, Bob Cat and Wolf. The wolves are fun to shoot, around 1:30 feeding time. There is enough room to capture any animal there without getting fences, etc. The raptures are in cages that are a little hard to shoot, but hey. you can learn a lot. They have 8 foot wide walking paths, even a wheel chair can go thru the park OK. Open 9:00 AM til 5:00 I think. Great place to take kids or grandkids.
