Absolutely stunning in it's detail!
Hi Steve,
fantastic. Nothing more to say.
There's a background, hehe. Great focal point.
A perfect picture. I it look like an hummingbird! If yes, congratulation because it is very hard to get that type of bird posing, he is always on the go.
Nice work Steve. I am really enjoying the detail in these you have posted lately. With this one, yes...the background could have been better and the full tail could be showing but it really does not take away much from a stunning shot otherwise.
Hi Steve,
After working with these critters for three multi-hour shoots (probably 14 hrs. total), I understand that you don’t always get the choice of where they are shot and what the backgrounds are and what is around them and when they may be partially hidden by a stick and the list goes on. And they don't stay still long!
I have yet to get one to pose for me!
So I think that is another outstanding shot you have produced.
Nice work. Again.
That is seriously good! I am very jealous!
I am totally jealous also!!! I actually like the background. It frames the little guy in an asymmetric way and is balanced with his beak, the shape of the branch and the white of his underbelly. It actually drew my eye directly to his head, which then followed his body to the hidden tail.
I like compositions that direct the eye. Sometimes I look at photos or paintings and think, "OK, what am I looking at?".
Just my .02. Thanks for sharing this.

Oh well, if that's just today's best .................!
That is a staggeringly wonderful image. I'd invite anyone to go into specialist ornithological publications and find a better example. Just a magnificent quality of work. All you can do is admire it.
Thanks everyone for commenting. I appreciate the feedback.
Donald, you have a way with words. I'll have to google that to find out what your talking about.
What can I add to what has been said above in the posts...magnificent. Now tell me...where do you photograph these little beauties? Great image Steve.
