B&W concversions 2

Ken, I don't think you gained much by converting to B&W. Did you try working with shadows and highlights to bring out the details in the trees?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the conversion, but I feel that this was maybe not a good subject for a B & W. There's no real primary focal point in the image and there are large swathes of very similar tone across the image.

Thank you Ken and Donald for your most useful comments. Take your point about the subject matter being not the best of choices. I guess I have lost the plot slightly in that I have become a bit single mindedly over zealous in the technique of B&W conversion at the expense of good subject selection. Time to take a step back for a more balanced approach. And yes Ken, I did use the Shadows and highlights filter. Maybe I should have used it more selectively on the back ground hills.
