This pictures have been taken in Sardinia,
one of the biggest Isles in the Mediterranean sea, where I live.

The composition of No. 2 is better than number 1, in addition the focus is not sharp in the foreground of both photos.

Yes, I suspect this is one of those situations which requires two shots with different focus points for each scene. Then combine the two with layers and masks.

Failing that, I would get the foreground sharply focused and accept some softness in the far distance.

You already have a fairly narrow aperture so you have done as much as possible for creating a single shot with everything in focus.

If possible, I would say both locations are worth a little more experimentation.

I'm sorry,
I don't post my pictures at resolution more than 800pixel,
but I've noticed now the images in this forum have been compressed and reduced more on standard view.

Anyway,
I checked originals on my iMac 24",
and both are perfectly defined , even in the foreground.
(I don't like to unsharp mask is not necessary).


In landscapes I usually work in hyperfocal to be sure to have in focus the maximum depth of field,
using the lenses at their best aperture (not exceeding closing it to avoid diffraction).

Here are the same pictures,
but the image size has been reduced using the option "sharper, for reductions",
using an higher quality level.
