Re: Townsend's Solitaire
I'm not a bird guy, but the exposure, sharpness, and separation from the background are really well done . Congrats,
Kevin

Re: Townsend's Solitaire
Very nice Rollin,
Only one minor suggestion, which you may/may not want to consider (as a matter of principle).
That is; cloning a bit of background over the top of the twig that disappears behind the bird, it looks like a third leg at the moment - only needs a bit of 'air' between bird and twig end, but do make sure the twig has a natural looking end (by cloning) and doesn't just fade away, that's the secret to not making it obvious.
Cheers,

Re: Townsend's Solitaire
Dave your sharp eye is appreciated. I had initially prepared this photo before posting and removed the twig you mention, but I did not like some other changes so I prepared this one for posting, but forgot to remove the twig for the very reason you mention in that it looks like third leg, somewhat distracting. Thanks to all for your comments.

Re: Townsend's Solitaire
I love this photo and am impressed how well the subject is separated from the background of similar color. I was so focused on the bird, I never noticed the twig y'all are talking about. Those little details that you guys worry about are really intimidating for us lesser experienced photographers!
Beautiful bird, beautiful photo!

Re: Townsend's Solitaire
Well done Rollin. I agree on the third leg.
Terri, fear not. It will come quickly. The more you shoot and the more you view things here along with posting for help you will quickly start seeing the same things.
