Re: Belted Kingfisher
I'm not a birder but would like to say I find them much more interesting and colourful from the other side. For most I look at the breast of most birds usually has more colour and detail. It may be the contrast provided by the white spots but the tail feathers look to be more in focus than the head. Nice pose and the web adds a bit too.

Re: Belted Kingfisher
Thank you Dave. I agree Andrew, most birds photograph better from the side or front. Kingfishers have a rust colored breast which would certainly add color. In this case however the bird would not turn around so "you takes what you can get". My experience with Kingfishers indicates they are very wary of human beings, which explains why many photographs of this bird are taken from a blind. By the way one the worlds leading bird photographers lives in your lovely city of Victoria BC, Glenn Bartley. Do you know him?

Re: Belted Kingfisher
Very nice.
I know of a couple of pairs but they are just too far for my equipment.
