It is very good practise for MF. I used to be so afraid of using it but now I will whenever it is needed especially with the macro lens. This was however taken with the zoom at 300mm and the dragon about 5 feet away.

100% crop does not work as the dragon was touching each side of the crop. Here at 75% crop it still has some space.

Yep it is a nice shot Bobo. I like both. However I was thinking a crop about half way between your two. As I do like the detail of the super close I really like the colors in the background as they play of the dragon well. so to keep some color and get a little more detail, I was thinking something more like this.
