Guess what my friends brought to dinner
I hope my friends enjoy my picture of their roses at least half as much as my wife and I enjoyed the evening of conversation and, of course, the gorgeous flowers that they brought.
This is another one of my new studio shots, so C&C is encouraged more than ever.

Beautiful colors. Nice curve to the top edges of the flowers. The red band compliments the red in the flowers.
Any reason you clipped the edges? I think it hurts the composition .

Thanks for your comments, Steve. I used the tight crop because it seemed to have a bit more intimacy than allowing space all around. The original was captured with plenty of space so I have many cropping options available to me.

A crop with more space around the flowers and with a different treatment of the background:

I prefer the second one Mike, the fact that the flowers are 'clipped' off in the first bothers my eye,.
Lovely colours and background in the second.

I prefer the second as well in terms of the flowers and background but I like the tighter crop from the bottom on the first . Not sure why but I find the clear vase a bit distracting.
