    Signing in From Canada

    Hello, Everyone;

    My name is John and I have been reading through the Cambridge in Color tutorials for a number of years, having happened upon this site through one Internet search or another. I've been active in photography for quite a number of years, and finally put down my film camera in favor of a digital model in 2008.

    I recently went back to a highspeed Internet connection after a few years on dial-up; so, now that I can easily post photographs on this site, I thought I would sign up and start signing in every now and again.

    I live in Canada, beside the St. Lawrence River in Eastern Ontario. My main interests in photography are landscapes, macro work, and low light flashless performance photography (bands on stage, things like that).

    John,
    Welcome to CiC, it's great to have you with us.

    With your experience, I’m sure you will be able to guide and help the less experienced members here at CiC. The main thing however is that you enjoy posting and interacting with like-minded people.
    I look forward to seeing your work.

    Hi John,
    Welcome to CIC, it's great to have such a knowledgeable member in the neighbourhood. I'm living few miles away from Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary. Birds aren't on your list, but who knows..
    Thanks for the tips with the cleaning sensor. Yesterday I used the blower, seems that a wet cleansing is the necessary step
    forward.

    Yes that isn't too far downstream on the St. Lawrence River from where I am (just at the bottom edge of the Thousand Islands, of course).

    No, I haven't really tried any bird photography yet; I'm more of a spring wildflower and autumn colors kind of person. I have one sort of long lens, a 70mm-300mm, but my favorite lenses are a 45mm perspective control (shift/tilt) lens (on a tripod) and a fast 50mm f/1.4 (hand held).
