Did you have some fish & chips by the quey side?
I prefer the first one in terms of it being a more balanced composition. Rather than being an image of boats with some land behind them (with which there is nothing wrong), I feel the first one is more of a landscape image that has boats as a feature. Hope that makes sense.
However, it does need a counter-clockwise rotation. Also, I think that bird in flight on the right could go. In fact, what about a crop just inside that bird?
Donald as a newby to photography why dose it need a counter-clockwise rotation?
Got ya thank you.
Glenn,
it's because the horizon is leaning towards the right and looks disconcertingly unnatural. Even a minimal tilt of a degree or so is usually detectable by the human eye and makes a photo look slightly odd. Used for effect it sometimes works though but in those cases the photographers intention is clear.
Paul
I like both of these and find it hard to choose a favourite. The bottom image in my opinion could do with a little more space to the left of that boat it's sort of crowding the frame I think but nice light and detail, on both in fact.
i've change the top image for a edited version.as i agree with Donald about the bird and the horizon.
thanks
