Some really interesting vehicles in the wing mirror reflection, John.
Not sure which variety of Sea Holly that is, certainly one of the more blue versions and with silvery spiky leaves. I grow Silver Ghost (continuing the car theme) and the insects really love them.

Geoff,
I think it's Eryngium Maritimum. The plant in the photo is growing wild in amongst the sand dunes not far from my home. It is locally abundant but I think a bit less so nationally.

That would be the wild version then, John. The cultivated garden forms tend to have deeper flower heads.
They seem to require a frost before germination. Some years I struggle to get any seeds to germinate while other times they self seed everywhere.
Certainly photogenic plants.

Very nicely done, John. I like your images, but just to "round" things out, you might consider darkening the sea holly, which appears a bit bright.
