Re: Statues
That last one is such beautiful colors and a great perspective.

Re: Statues
All interesting shots. But #1 stands out for me. Well framed and powerful subject. I could almost feel the need to duck that spear which is fully intended to come my way! Liked the "diagonal line" you set up between the forward thrust arm and the hand holding the spear point which is lined up on the viewer. I reckon you have succeeded in adding 'Life' to the inanimate. Yes, #1 certainly made me go back for a second look.

Re: Statues
Otavio,
Your photos are very good. My favorite is the picture number 3 (besides the beautiful colors and impeccable perspective, she brings me a sense of peace), and then the picture number 1. Congratulations on the purchase of your new camera. Surely you will take many beautiful pictures with it.
Antonio.

Re: Statues
The bottom photo is my favorite. It is well lit and the statues form an interesting line that carries the viewer into the image. I like the saturated colors. I think you might have gotten better results if you had taken the top two at a different time of day or used a fill flash. There is significant shadow on the top image and too many distracting tree branches in the second.

Re: Statues
Yes, top and bottom, but my favourite is the top one, because I think you had to work harder to see the image and get the perspective right.
I hope you are enjoying Iguassu. I guess you may well have been before, but I loved it - beautiful place and so many photo opportunities. (Especially from the Brazilian side!)

Re: Statues
Hi Otavio,
Glad to see you're getting the hang of the D5100, I am broadly in agreement with everyone else, Ken Curtis probably read my mind, so I won't say it all again
Just brilliant composition on #1 and especially #3.
Be sure to catch my suggestion on posting images in another of you threads (owl and dinner) I replied to earlier, it applies here too, although the subject is more forgiving here.
Well done,

Re: Statues
Otavio,
As I said earlier, these are three great shots with magnificent compositions.
However, I do not understand why in the pictures 1 and 2 you used the maximum shutter speed of your camera (1/4000) and ISO 800 for shooting static subjects with short and medium focal lenghts. I do not know what is the lowest setting of ISO Nikon D5100, but for the same aperture, if you had used ISO 100, shutter speed would be "only" 1/500.

Re: Statues
Hello, Antonio! You are absolutely right. Nevertheless, as I mentioned, these were the first pictures with this new camera and I was just testing its characteristics. I was using Aperture priority (maximum aperture) and trying a high ISO, to check the noise level, which is really low, as I expected.
Cheers!

Re: Statues
Dave, yes I am enjoying Iguassu a lot. Actually I lived here for 7 years, in the past, and still consider it as my home. Youre right, there are MANY photo opportunities here. Regards
