Wow - my first 'first place' in the mini competitions! This is particularly gratifying since my last entry, in mini competition 1227, came in last; so thanks to everyone who visited, and thanks to all those who voted. There is some really great photography being posted here, and it is always wonderful to see what the other members have been up to.

Thanks, Jeff and Phil; some really strong showings in this one, and I completely expected one of either of yours to win this competition. Beautiful work on both your parts!
Thanks Gretchen and you are right: the use of a 70mm-300mm lens on this one compressed the perspective in such a way as to concentrate the hedgehog's cuteness to an almost irresistible degree!
