My apologies for not introducing myself sooner. I saw a couple of posts that I wanted to reply to.
I'm basically a retired automotive design engineer based in the Midlands in the UK. I retired in my my mid 50's. Very bad thing to do pension wise.
I sometimes make long posts and may come and go while typing them. My English sometime rambles and I often make some amazing typo's. I spent the last 15 years working on firmware and that may have something to do with it. My brain thinks one word but my fingers may type another.
Given my profession I am some times inclined to make comments about manufacturers and trends in camera design etc. I am also one of those people who has opinions. No problem with new "ideas" but I tend to look at them objectively. I wont generally argue on the web but if some one wants me to elaborate on anything I post I will do my best if time allows.
My photographic interests are varied and I often wish I had a camera with me. Hence a heavy concentration on Pen's at the moment. I often used a compact and have gained some experience of processing shots as a result. I also own a canon 300d and 5D Mk1. The 300d is more than adequate for web and pc shots really so I have never bothered upgrading. It's was coupled with good canon lenses from the day I bought it. The 5D is more for photography through a microscope. Not much used so far as it takes time to find the correct equipment and is a bit like macro photography on steroids.
