Hi Jason: I like the view of your shots on the opening page, the quality is outstanding, but I cannot find any controls that would allow me to stop and view a particular shot, or to scroll at my own pace.

Navigation in the individual portfolios seems to be a bit strange, and I find it frustrating to try to find the shots I want to view. I'm using IE 8. When I click on one of the shots in the collage, sometimes a new shot comes up and sometimes it does not change. Even when it does change, the size (and what shot shows up) is unpredictable and does not show off your work. I would rather be able to view the portfolio shots in the same (or similar) format as on the main page. I assume you will keep adding to your portfolios, so you will want to be able to navigate them easily.

I don't know if it is technically possible, but can you have your email, and the CiC URL hyperlinked so viewers don't have to copy and paste.

If I could be pointed to a cogent tutorial on how to develop CSS I would try to tart up the above site. I can't seem to get to grips with the descriptions given by pBase.

Well truth be told, i have been struggling with the web page for a few days now. I simply have no idea what im doing. It is a template but some of the parts do not work well. I have been having alot of problems with the portfolios im going to spend more time on it soon to try to work out the kinks which there are alot. The "coverflow gallery" as they call it, hardly works and has been really annoying to work on. Im seriously considering your suggestion or doing something like it. Im thinking about making each picture its own page within the three main categories and then by clicking each photo it brings you to the next. The only problem with using the format for the gallery on the main page is that there is no way to stop the flow, at least to my knowledge. And i believe that hyperlink is possible i just havent figured out how yet.

Also I'm going to be going official with my own domain as soon as i work out all the kinks

Thanks alot for letting me know what you thought. I thought some of the problems were just because my computer isnt the best. And truthfully my friends weren't much help either saying things like "it was cool" where there is no useful information.

Thanks again, Im glad you liked the photos by the way.

Thanks Donald and Ron. After looking thru both of your sites, I'm humbled.

The famous rail photog was O. Winston Link, my hero. Man, he shot some great stuff!

My main photo site link is in my signature but before I started that site, I used a page on my studio site. Quite a lot of the pics there are scans of Kodachrome 64 transparencies and some old prints too, some that go back to the 1970s

This is from a K64 transparency

Donald - Thanks for comments on Auchencairn.

On a more general note - to mods- if it has not been already suggested - we need all this data in tabular form - I can't go through this long post looking for individual URL's every time. A separate sticky thread with user name and site(s) would be very helpful, updated as more info comes in.

    Cheers

Great thread here. Have checked out the sites on most of the posts -- all are great, and each a little different. Fun looking at all the inspiration.
    Here's my humble site--on Opera. http://my.opera.com/Blackcalla
I appreciate all comments -- especially pointing out areas for improvement. Thanks.

You need to get the link into your signature here. The site looks superb. Now bookmarked. Congratulations. I don't have the technical know-how to get music into my slideshows.

Only thing maybe worth thinking about is it's not obvious that, when in a gallery, you have to click on your logo to get back to the homepage (or maybe it is and I'm just stupid!).

    Thanks Donald.
I use the Zenfolio template system for my site and I have been very pleased with both the package and ease of use. Did you discover the 'dim the lights' feature in the gallery? (Hover the mouse in the top left corner of the photograph.) I particularly like that.
I thought I'd switched the music off! It was annoying me, so heaven knows what affect it would have on others. I'll also have to take a look at the navigation problem. Thanks for raising it.

I like the Hasselblad; I was reading how to load a film and it said wind the film until the arrow is opposite the delta mark. I couldn't see in the dark but the school camera was a lot different. I like the website and the pic of a signal box.

Hopefully I've now simplified the navigation issue Donald. I've got rid of that music too!!
