Hi all,
Matt sugested a thread where we can advertise our websites. Not sure where this might go, but only one way to find out
So - kicking the ball rolling, my humble site can be found here
keeping the ball in a spin: my newbie page
This is a great idea, easier then searching in posts to see if people have sites.
Mine can be found here.

** Just a note tho, don't pay much attention to the pictures that are on it now, I will be having a full update on pictures there early next week **
Cheers for that Colin,
Ok, so ive been building this website for a while now using a blend of various different things eg HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP (I'm a complete newbie with PHP, but have been having a good amount of success ).
Anyway here it is :

The whole site design is created from scratch by myself..... .
The gallery is still a work in progress.
Let me know what you think if you like - there is a fully functioning contact form.
I have faffed around with mine for ages trying to get to a state where I am satisfied with it. I think I am there now. I like to keep things simple. Rob's simple website!!!

Spot on .I also think that members could comment on other websites and provide useful feedback on style, layout etc.
Speaking of feedback, I had a quick look at your site.
Looks pretty clear and to the point.
I see you must have purchased some form of hosting and domain there .
Just out of curiosity, have you had much reception from the site? eg any requests etc, this is just coming from someone who is interested in doing a similar sort of thing see...
Matt
I use Clikpic, and they are very good as they specialize in photographers and artists. I bought the domain name through them, but you can buy one externally and import it to Clikpic - probably a better option as you can also get an email address to match, which Clikpic don't do.
I have quite a few visitors. The cost is about £100 a year, including domain name costs. But that is for a maximum of 400 shots. You can get cheaper options with fewer shots. What is important is to get links from other sites, especially major sites.
I'm quite happy with them.

Btw, I agree; this is a good idea, thanks Matt

I love the design of your site, and the name is awesome. Good job. Once you have it finished I look forward to going back and checking out your work.

I have checked out your site a few times before. I like how the black background helps make the pictures stand out a bit more, as well as how the pictures are staggered when you go to view them.

Newbie page or not, at least you are getting your photos online for the world to view. Flickr is a good site for this. You have some great shots as well.

Your site may be simple, but sometimes thats the way to go. I think it has elegance at the same time. Also I like the slideshow of B&W photos on the front, specially with the black background, they blend in perfectly.

Dave, I have also checked out your website a few times before. I like the multiple categories, and you also have some excellent shots.
Keep up the good work everyone.
My website is a bit of a mix - I started it originally with just a single gallery for my fractal art, then I added a blog & then I started adding some photos. I enjoy fiddling about with it (learning new stuff & keeping the old brain cells fizzing!) and it's a useful way to share my art and photos with friends & family.

The most recent gallery of (macro) images I posted is here
Mine is the ESFotoClix Gallery and Blog
carregwen,
Yea, that's cool, though i probably wont use something like clickpic as with PHP i could build (crossing fingers that i can learn some more ) something that is specifically catered to what i need, thus reducing loading times and extra costs.
It just might take a little longer - but that's OK
Yea, also I did a bit of reasearch a while back and figured out that it would probabaly cost me around that, so thats good to know also.
Doughboy,
Ta for that, ill be sure to post an update when i get the gallery running !
GillR,
WOW, I downloaded apophysis a while back and had a bit of a play, but didn't produce anything that looked like that !
Though I did mess about in photoshop a while back, and produced some things similar to those.
eNo,
Some of those planes & trains images are really cool! I havnt really done much of that myself aside from a few vintage tractors.
Out of curiosity - what lens were you using?
Something about 20mmish? At a pure guess?
dave,
milleniunmuppet: Thanks for that "WOW" .. it made my day Looking forward to seeing your site develop, and a big congrats from me on the handcoding!
eNo: Super images! I love the layout of your home page and especially enjoyed your flower images.
Doughboy: I am so jealous of you living in Vancouver! I fell in love with it instantly the first time I visited and am well overdue a return trip Very nice gallery layout & organisation!
Dave: Terrific variety of shots, I'm impressed with your organisation!
Carregwen: Lovely & easy to navigate, great selection of shots. I kept going back to look at "Starburst" in the Botanics Gallery - so beautiful in form and colour.
JK6065: Great variety of shots. I was particularly taken with one of your Pyrenees shots, such a magnificent view.
Colin: Beautiful images: "Cloud Factory" makes me want to pack my bags & get on a flight to NZ right now!
Hi
Here's my effort - just a few 'snaps' of my travels!

Cheers!
Several cameras over the years!
Australia 2005 - Olympus C3000
Canada, Australia 2008 & Paris - Konica Minolta Z5
Corby, Wales & Edinburgh - Panasonic Lumix FZ28 (my current camera)
And of course most of my wedding photos weren't taken by me!
Even when the sky's not grey - it tends to come out white!
