Are dogs not the most joyous animals on Earth? It took me a second to even note that you had captured a butterfly in the shot- luck, patience, or Photoshop ? These pics made me smile, thanks
Fun stuff! Bright sunny days have many positives, but sometimes not soo much in photography.......except for getting crisp shots of dogs in motion. Thats a challenging exposure combination as well; dark dog light dog....well done. Pix are good and the dogs look really really happy.
I love that first shot...sheer exuberance!
I couldn't agree more.
When you take this shot alongside those in 'Pet Emergency', you realise that whilst there are many very beautiful human female models and even a few 'not-too-bad' males that appear in images here on CiC, this pup has got to be in there for the most photogenic living thing on the web. Just absolutely made for photographing.
Thank you all, I'm glad you enjoyed these. That little black pup (which is supposed to max out at 75-80 lbs) isn't one I would have picked out on my own, but she is really getting under my skin and a joy to be around.
Debbie, you are absolutely right. I have made a multitude of exposures in which the light meter was just overwhelmed, and I ended up with either a black or a white blob. I now expose for the black with about +1/2 EV (or just shy of blowing highlights), and then in pp selectively darken the labrador. Doing the opposite, of exposing for the lab, requires lightening the black which just turns her a shade of dark grey and raises the noise excessively. So I am still having to make compromises, but I'm gradually winnowing down the ratio of throw-aways.

Kevin - these images are just great. The faces in the first shot are just pure joy. Well done!
Thanks so much, Cliff
