    Hi Kathy,

I have edited your post above and untangled the mess (no charge )
I think it started to go wrong at step 8, because you did have two "http:" bits, then you tried manually editing and it got worse! It's easy when you know how - says he who's been doing it for over a year
    Anyway, that sorted now.

However, could I request you re-post these with a max. width of about 1200 pixels please?
Not everyone has fast broadband and it helps make the threads readable for all if pics are not too big.
I expect you know how to do this, but if not, just ask (but let me know your PP software), most people use 1000 or 1024px and go a bit bigger if necessary.

In respect of the pictures; I see a sea shell from the sea shore
I shouldn't comment technically just now as I'm at work and not using my normal monitor, but the composition is fine.
For the train loco pic; taking it a fraction later so the post and corner of the sign were not in shot would have been much better. Not sure if the tight crop, losing the roof and wheels is deliberate, I think I would have not been quite so zoomed in for this one - although if deliberate, it does show the imposing size of the beast.

    Hope that helps,

By the way-regarding the train- I wasn't zoomed in that much. I was actually almost standing on the tracks- Train was moving right along and I had to snap pic very quickly. Ha! Ha!

    and your software is??

In PS Elements or Photoshop, it will be under Image > ReSize in the menu.
Make sure constrain proportions is checked, then overtype the width figure with say, 1024 and hit OK.

The only editing software I am using is Windows Photo Gallery and Picasa 3. I also have GIMP but haven't had much chance to use it yet. I checked and the choices you mentioned were in the GIMP program[worded differently]. Perhaps I can try that soon on my pics. Thanks

When using PS or GIMPShop to resize, make sure the "resample" box is checked. It does a very good job if you resample. Going smaller is no big deal if you don't check it, but going bigger, it is very important.

Thanks for your reply Pops, I don't have that sw, so that is a helpful addition.

    Kathy,

In Picasa 3, in menu under File, is Export to Folder, here's the dialog, which has a resize option
    camera freeze shutdown

I think you ger similar re-size options when uploading to their website, but since I don't actively use it any more, I have forgotten

    Cheers,

I looked at GIMP program but didn't find "resample" or any words that are similar. Thanks for all help.

Hmmmm To tell the truth, I haven't used GIMPShop very much, so I was assuming. I do know that GIMP is somewhat different from GIMPShop. GS is G with PhotoShop looks and controls overlaid.

I guess I should slow down and actually take a look at the program.
