Juvenile osprey with catch.

Gets his catch fine but his after flight is pretty hilarious. Has yet to learn to hold fish with both feet. Almost lost balance a number of times.

Not the best image quality due to distance, and my not very good panning/focus skills, burst shot limitation which forces me almost all the time to take single shots, etc etc. Sorry about that.

Great series. I have tried birds in flight, really hard to do. Distance is always an issue. I have been trying out a 70-200 with teleconverters to no great luck, probably need to buy a longer lens. Congratulations on this capture and thanks for sharing - it encourages the rest of us..

Thanks Victor. Just keep at it, the shots will come.

If you do intend to go longer, my advice would be to not at this stage. Use whatever you have to get the technique right and only then go for better equipment. This is the only reason I have not upgraded either the basic camera (550D/T2i very slow burst mode and basic focusing system) or lens (70-300L).
