Portrait
You may be sick of seeing them by now and apologies for that.
But these are my most favourite bird at the moment. Particularly with goldfish for dinner. Soon they will be gone for the winter and will have to find something else, so while this goes on will keep at getting "the" shot.
Does this closeup work? Can it be improved in any way?
C&C always welcomed and appreciated. Please fire away.

Re: Portrait
That's some great detail. The goldfish, quite rightly, looks terrified!
Do you have the shot without cropping the end of the osprey's left wing? Would be interested in seeing that if so....
Great capture though! What camera / lens / settings did you use?

Re: Portrait
I think it's a great shot. The clarity is wonderful. It's funny that the fish is positioned that way and not hanging down from it's tail.

Re: Portrait
Thanks Tommy, Terri.
Camera - 550D(T2i), Lens 70-300L. Distance is always a factor as they do tend to be a bit further off from me. One day hopefully will get a frame filler. Did get lucky with this one when he passed about 30m to my left. Settings - 1/1600, f8, ISO 800.
Position of fish is one aspect of getting this shot. Very rarely has it been as clear as this one. Note also the tips of the claws just showing through behind the gill.
Normally I will not crop this close but gave it go to show the details.
Full size shot.

Re: Portrait
I prefer the second crop, bobo. Nice job, and keep them coming. I'm enjoying these!

Re: Portrait
I like the first one. The detail of the bird's wings with the airflow is really interesting. His face with the clear open eye and beak is very nice too!
