Broken Promises
Now that I unexpectedly single, a suitable picture.
The rings former owner had them under false pretenses and were no longer wanted, so I found a use for them.

Re: Broken Promises
Nice shots, I favor the first one. Sorry about the broken promise though.

Re: Broken Promises
As Orlando says, the story behind these images is one that, I'm sure, you hoped never have to tell. And that is always difficult.

Re: Broken Promises
Graham, I admire you for taking something that is a source of pain and turning it into something bright and positive.

Re: Broken Promises
Thanks all, you the story is an old one and will be told again and again by many.
The background is some coral I found lying around the shore and I thought it would generally be a good contrast to jewellery - and as I don't own much myself (I have a wedding band somewhat larger sized, but that is all).
I hope to be borrowing other jewellery now that I have a concept shot. Nice to add more to my portfolio as well as tell a story.
I wanted the differential focus rather than have both pieces in focus. I prefer the first also, but I wonder if a little more focus on the engagement ring (bit too blurred) would enhance the composition?

Re: Broken Promises
Hi Graham,
I too prefer the first, but tend to agree with you that a little more DoF would help, perhaps to get the heart shape, not so much the stone, sharper.
