Iso 6400 with corrected image

I tried to get the noise level down and still have a good image.



ISO 6400, 120mm, f/4.5, 1/160s.

UPDATE - You will see below (post 23) I was in contact with Teamspeed and he edited my RAW file and provided the following feedback

"Here are my, hopefully, constructive criticism to help you along the high ISO journey. These are either steps or suggestions to help you. (here he is talking about DPP Canon users)

1) Change your colorspace on your camera to sRGB instead of adobeRGB.
2) I took the contrast back up a bit.
3) I took the sharpening down a bit (-1)
4) On the 2nd tab, I bumped the sharpening up there a tiny bit
5) On the NR tab, I lowered the chroma noise to be close to the lumin. NR value
6) I set white balance using the numerals on her shirt.
7) When you shoot to the right as you did (which is great btw), you then want to bring the exposure down in DPP, so I brought the exposure down just a bit, around 1/3 to 2/3. You can look at the raw I sent to you.

I then ran the file through my personal action to clean up the file. I would say to reduce your NR just a little bit. Having some noise isn't bad, and it helps to leave detail."

It's my first try with new info and PP tips. I think that it is a big improvement over my last try which was a total disaster. No matter what I tried the person came out looking like plastic. I look forward to getting in some more shooting practice soon.

I am open to and would welcome all C & C on this image.

I tried some of the free software and found it kind of hard to use as I am not much of a computer person. I did a trial of LR3 and found it really easy for me, now at LR4.1 and so thats that story. I would not know how to PP anything in GIMP. You should be able to translate the process into that language I would think. But then thinking is what gets me into trouble some of the time....lol

I have a couple batches of high ISO photos I am working with - here and here and another set I still have to process, so any tips/tricks are greatly appreciated.

Bill the techniques are not mine but someone else's. He gladly posted his finding for the Canon 7D but they will also apply to the 60D, T2i, T3i, ect. He also along with other members posted their work flow for PP.

Wow, that's amazing. I see you have the same camera and make as I do. I have taken some photo's recently at 3200 and had so much noise that reducing it just made it plasticly (yes I made up this word). I would love to see the details also. Please share? Thanks!
