Re: Goldfish hunters
Hi Bobo
Firstly, great shots, it wasn't until I looked a second time that I noticed the fish. No. 2 is my favourite and I think this is because of the birds positioning. In my humble opinion, the background in this shot adds to the clarity and detail of the subject. (I hope I have used the right terminologies here)

Re: Goldfish hunters
Hi Bobo,
Nice captures as usual.
I find them a little too dark - I know you don't want to blow the white plumage, but wonder if there's a possibility of using a gray Levels setting of about 1.3 to lighten things a bit?
Perhaps try that on just the subject even.
Cheers,

Re: Goldfish hunters
Nice captures Bobo. Are the goldfish in someone's pond or are they natural in your ponds?

Re: Goldfish hunters
Thanks Soozie.
Thanks Dave - yes should have pulled back some on the vignetting - the trees on the left were far too bright. I thought that doing this to the full image before cropping would reduce the effect somewhat but apparently not enough. Not sure if the larger size in lightbox is giving a similar view. Will try the 1.6 suggestion - always good to learn something new.
Thanks Joe - nope not natural. This is the only pond I know of with a big Koi population. Probably someone released them some years ago and they have since flourished.

Re: Goldfish hunters
I really like #2 for its clarity and the contrast between subject and background. The background is not as busy as in #3. Very nice captures.
