    Hi Honey,

I hope you slept well (by the time you read this).

    If this
Just had a thought if my camera shutter speed is 1/2000s and the first water pic is 1/1000s does that mean i can never capture as good a pic as that one x
was the question, then the answer is "yes you can", because your camera will do 1/500, 1/1000 and 1/2000, and probably a few in between too. So no worries on that score.

I'll try and get here earlier Tuesday evening, sorry I missed you Monday

    Cheers,

Well actually, that's pretty par for the course for me too - I've been known to carry 3 camera bags and a tripod across jagged rocks at 4:30 in the morning by torchlight, wearing waders - or stand in thigh deep water for 20 minutes in my work trousers to "get the shot".

    All part of the fun

    Hi Honey,

Yes, the biggest problem with people shots, for you and me, is being limited to using the on-camera flash, which always tends to give this kind of stark illumination.

I always take portraits with available light, which means taking the subject somewhere reasonably bright, or coping with slowish shutter speeds and the noise you get in pictures when you set the ISO high (say > 1000).

For example, my sister, her daughter and husband:
IS this camera okay for me.
    Nikon D5000, 1/60s @ f4.2, ISO3200 (and Neat Image!) at 32mm

As you can see though, this leaves you at the mercy of the lighting, my sister is caught in one of those halogen downlighters, making her somewhat brighter!

Why not try one without flash tomorrow?
You may need to find a "Flash suppress" option in the menu to stop it going off.

    Cheers,

I hope I look that good when I'm 71! (little chance though, I don't exactly "look like Tom Cruise" now!)

Perhaps if I put on a dress? ...
