Hi Phil
Am not a huge fan of HDR and the early shots here are a bit 'busy' for me....the last few with their simpler lines are much more pleasing..and the last shot is something rather good indeed!
Phil
I do like these pictures!
even if I agree with Daisy about some 'busy' picture, all the images are very interesting to my eyes.
thanks for sharing
Nicola
Erm, no HDR was used in this thread
Infrared?
I like #12 because I didn't think of it, just to think I was going to go to the NMA this Saturday but was got up at 4am and thought no I'm going back to bed. I like the others because they remind me of my childhood; which is odd because I didn't live in a posh house or go to a posh school, but I know village life.
These are great shots Phil, particularly 7, 3, and 2.
Im not with Sharon on this one, I really like the high structure and full tone conversion you have done. There is an HDR feel about them, Id be interested to know more about the PP.
Regards
Phil
No, Nicola!
Not infrared either, Sharon!
I really like #1 and #11 a lot, though I wish the telephone lines and the people were removed. I also wish the cloud formations had been more accommodating in #11, but imagine that you didn't have sufficient time to wait for that to happen.
I immediately noticed the different styles of post-processing, so I found the discussion about that intriguing. I wonder if the presentation value would be increased if you presented the high-contrast images in one thread and the less contrasty images in another thread. As an example, the post-processing approach to #3 and #4 are so different yet are presented consecutively.
I'm hesitant to offer ideas about the post-processing because I get the impression that everything that you do is very controlled to meet the look that you want. In other words, it's not that you are sometimes doing stuff that produces results that you don't want; instead, it's that sometimes you do stuff that I don't like even though you do.
Different trips, different light, different camera, different processing! No HDR/Tone Mapping used on 3 though - just processing layers with different black and white treatments, and using a red filter to darken the sky.
Very nice set of photos, Phil, with the usual great tonal range. I particularly like 1 and 7. I would expect many of these scenes to have a lot of people about during daylight hours - do you get up really early, or spend a lot of time waiting for a "break in the traffic"?
#7 looks like a school I used to help out in; I noticed a little vertical perspective distortion, but it could also benefit from horizontal adjustment.
That is some arial in #2 and if memory serves me right Noel; you will be lucky to see a car or person for hours on end. I've waited for a bus at Crich which is a large village with only a couple of horses for company.
