I like the threatening sky, together with the light over the hills, it has to be one of the most picturesque view of the Lake District. Lots of days like this summer!
If I were to quibble with it I think you may have pushed the sky a little too much, there appears to be evidence of a light fringing where the clouds meet the hills on the Right Hand Side

cool picture,,,,I love pictures on inclement weather and fronts coming in...
I think I see Nessie...
On a more serious note Peter, and sorry to criticise, but is it quite as sharp as it could be?
There's something stopping me liking it and I can't figure it out
Sorry that's not much help,
I have seen a few photo's of this scene Peter, a friend of mine took an absolute cracker when he was up that way last October, just after the first snowfall.
I am in the lakes myself this coming November and I am looking forward to getting a few shots of Wastwater myself.
Nice photo.
Hi Peter,
I hope you don't mind, my PP version.
You may feel I have made it too bright.
Also, the sharpening on top of yours and on the jpg artefacts may be too much.
PP
Levels: 220 = white
USM for LCE: 20%, 47 Radius, 1 Threshold
USM to sharpen: 200% 0.3 Radius, 10 Threshold
The high threshold on the sharpen USM was to avoid sharpening the jpg artefacts, it wouldn't normally be this high (more like 1 or 2, unless noisy, when it might go to 5 or 6).
Hope that helps (someone),
