Does that mean I now own a Google product? AAAAARGH!
Is this going to become part of Picassa now? Ugh!
Should I be sorry that I spend money on thw whole NIK suite?
You have to remember Google bought NIK for their snapseed product to compete against Facebook's Instagram. I think they will (Hope they will) leave the other products alone. But put more money into R&D to better the products. I don't think it will become part of Picassa.
Earlier, after Orlando's post above, there was a big banner on the NIK website announcing that they had joined Google. That's now disappeared from the site and there is not a mention of Google anywhere on the Nik website.
If they keep the focus on mobile and not the desktop products maybe we'll be OK / won't have to assimilate into the Google community (I'm a bit fan of Silver Efex and Color Efex too)...

Trey ratcliff's view on this
Probably they will incorporate some features in free products of google (including android applications, google+ etc) but NIK software are way too popular to drastically change the concept. Hopefully we get more and better versions due to better R&D.
