You have the 70-300mm VR - the non VR version is a lot cheaper but not worth touching really. 55-200mm is the lens I think you're referring to.
The afs vr is around 400 now, and quite a good lens i believe, there is a cheaper sigma 300mm for about 100 gbp, but you get what you pay for
Hi Tricky, what camera is the lens for?
I have the Nikon D3100 with a 1.5 crop sensor so the 55-300mm lens performs as an 82.5-450mm Full Frame Equivalent lens. This is an f4.5-f5.6 VR lens that I have used for about 20 months now with no problems.
Hi frank, its for a 5100, i really want a 300mm so looking for my best option

This was what i was looking at, is this ok for mine?
Great thanks frank
I have the 70-300mm VR and I really like it. It's relatively light and I find the VR works really well on it. Provided you don't have to crop too much with it then you can get really sharp images. Well worth the money IMO!
