    Burrowing Owl 9/23

9/23 - Went to Antelope Island and found 2 burrowing owls. One of them flew off, but I was able to capture over 100 pictures of the other.

Both are taken with the Canon 7D and Tamron 70-300 DI VC USD.

One thing I hate about photographing these guys at Antelope Island is that during the evenings it seems like everyone is there, so I have to meander and pretend there is no burrowing owl. People will stop to see what I'm photographing, than they think I'm doing nothing and move on...I'm not sure how it makes the owl feel, but it did not mind my presence and I think it knew I was of no threat to it. It was more worried about the crow that kept singing in the sky.

Very nicely done. I need to get East of the mountains next season, we don't have them here on the wet side. I do mean wet though west works as well. Cute little guys, thanks for sharing.

Yes, I have a couple of buddies that got some great shots of a family of six. I wish I would have been free that weekend.

@Jeeper, they should be sticking around till winter at least? All the babies are grown and flew the coop, but still the adults left here.

They can be found clear through winter but rarely. The season to catch them here is March-August. I will be at the ready next season.

Very nice photos. I especially like the second one that includes the flowers. What time of day did you take these photos?
