Tiger beetle
The tiger beetle is one difficult bug to shoot. It's habitat is on sandy ground where it looks for small insects as it's prey. It's very skittish and so very difficult to approach even if one is on 'all fours' as it would quickly fly off when it sense danger. This is the first time I managed to get a portrait shot of it.

Re: Tiger beetle
And the shiny colouration is obviously another potential problem; but these shots have worked well.

Re: Tiger beetle
fellas, thanks for the compliments
Geoff, I diffused the external flash to avoid the potential reflections from shiny bugs
Mark, did you mean macro lens? I use both the Tamron 90mm and 180mm. For this bug, the 180mm was employed otherwise it's near impossible to get the portrait shot.
