I might seem a bit naive here but considering all the support for raw and the huge interest on forums that I see, I would have thought someone would produce a product that could correct the WB in different parts of the image if so desired. Not that it bothers me too much as I don't shoot raw (ok, on the odd occasion, yes).

In the PP department I'm a lazy person so I don't go off looking for solutions which I may be able to lessen in the field with a bit of forethought and skill. Everyone to their own, I say!

Agreed Steve, there is no easy solution in a mixed lighting situation, and it really depends on getting the best possible trade-off. In your examples of the wedding and reception, the choice is obvious; get the faces right and don't worry about what anything else looks like, after all they are Hollywood productions.

I played around with Ife's images and applied an overall magenta in PP to some of thie images; and found that in order to get rid of the strong green, highlights, the rest of the image started looking rather strange. I even tried using a layer mask with a gradient; just too much effort.

Problem is not a lot different than if someone had a green spotlight shining down from overhead, because that is in effect the situation that the green, translucent roof does.

Thanks so so much, i will give raw some tries. So in situations like night parties or clubs, how does one shoot.


On another note, i have acquired a tripod and it is amazing what i have been able to practise especially in the aperture department. Next on my mind is the Canon 50mm f1.8. After this....you'll hear my sighs of relief irrespective of your locations.
