Thanks for the welcome. I've had this site bookmarked since its early days and seeing it develop into such an excellent tutorial source has been of great benefit for my development as an enthusiast. The natural step forward was joining the forum. Constructive critique from fellow enthusiasts is [IMMO] probably the best advise a photographer can receive.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Judy,
thanks for the welcome. AZ sure provides you with unlimited sources of interesting subjects for your landscape photography and I'm looking forward to see some of your posts. I work abroad in the North African desert but where I'm located the desert is quite featureless and besides, its not the best of places to run about with photographic equipment.
Malta provides very little scope for land shots but being such a tiny island, the sea's nowhere far so coastal photography has become one of my favourite pastimes. Malta is also a macro photographer's paradise and insect shots now occupy most of the space of my HD.
    Cheers
    Mark

Hi Mark I just joined the community today, my interests are sunsets, sports (THFC and my boys football teams mainly) and macro. You mention Malta offers little for landscapes so you take lots of macro photos. What camera and lens do you use? BTW my son is on a football educational trip in Malta next year (April 2013) and he's really looking forward to it!!!

    Hi,
I use a Canon Eos 40D WITH A Canon 100mm F2.8 for my macros. Malta is excellent for insect macros and coastal photography. April is ideal for a training camp and its also a very good time of the year for insect photography. Hope you have a good time here.
