I am currently using Olympus E-510 and have a Olympus Fl-36 flash gun. Can this flash gun be used in Nikon/Canon camera? Does it need some modifications?

I suspect you can use it as a "dumb flash:, but you certainly won't be able to get the integration that you would out of a dedicated unit from the camera manufacturers themselves.
