Monument Valley, Arizona

While on vacation in the Southwest, we went to Monument Valley, Arizona.

Excellent colors and details in the red rocks and the foreground, but the sky really make this shot for me. Very nice, Don.

Very nice shot Don. Great colours and I think the composition works very well - it gives a sense of depth. I suspect you may have used a bit of Tone Mapping but it's not overdone.

Yes, this is a 5 shot HDR image that was processed through Nik's HDR Efex Pro, Define, Viveza, and Sharpener Pro. I try to keep the adjustments very subtle. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not work so well. Thanks for the comments.

Very nice colors -- vibrant but natural!

The foreground is largely uninteresting, so consider cropping the bottom to the point that the large amount of brush begins. Notice also that there is a halo due to oversharpening along the top of the rock formations.

A beautiful image Don. I agree with Mike on applying a bit of a crop but that's a probably just personal taste. The distant monuments clearly visible give the shot some real depth.

The composition is simple and is working great excepts for the foreground and the rock on the left which I think you should consider croping.

Well I think that the only really interesting part is that in the slot between the 2 rocky structures in the middle distance. I think I'd prefer seeing a crop showing the distant structures with the 2 close-up ones framing them. Maybe there aren't enough pixels there to do that though...

Now you've let the cat out of the bag! If you hadn't said 'HDR' I doubt that anyone would have known. Excellent processing technique!

I really like the colors and how you framed the distant rocks between the closer rock structures. But I'm with everyone else on cropping out some of the foreground. I'm envious of your processing technique!

Wow!Amazing composition.I specially like the sky.I agree with all that foreground is a little too much.If you shorten the foregroung focus of attention will be straight towards two towering rocks.
