Yes it is somewhat dark but an excellent catch.
On days such as these consider using a higher ISO or positive exposure compensation to brighten up the subjects. Of course for bright subject you should do the reverse.

Surely shows why they can be a favorite snack for the Eagles, they can not take off without a running start. Those that don't choose to dive quick and deep are at a huge risk.
