Hi All,
I shot this tree in the ancient city of Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka, this summer. I think our guide was a little bit baffled as to why I seemed to be paying more attention to this than the ancient ruins next to it! But oh well!
I did the B&W processing in ACR and just final sharpen in CS6. C&C most welcome!

That's winner for me, for the reason that you've brought out all the textures wonderfully well. It could have ended up flat and boring, but you've handled it really well, I think.

Thanks Donald. I do not have SEfexPro at the moment, since my trial ran out... ...I think a play in there could possibly bring out a bit more in it...

I like it quite a bit. The tones and textures are very pleasing and I really like that you placed the the two thick roots to lead the eye to the tree.

Agreed with the comments above. I especially like the angle that you used. Consider dialing back the sharpening, as it appears "crunchy" to me when viewed at all sizes. You used such nice contrast that it may need less sharpening than usual.

I love taking pictures of trees but don't do a very good job. This gives me some inspiration and ideas. Beautiful in B&W.

Excellent.
In a perfect world I think I might like the middle distance trees toned down to further emphasise and isolate the subject tree, but easier said than done.

@Mike, yes I know what you mean, and I think your adjective 'crunchy' for that over-sharpened look is very apt. I probably over-sharpened it when I down-sized it for the web. I'll take a look at the original and see if that also looks 'crunchy'!
