Re: Hay Bales
A second image in as many weeks with uncovered bales of hay. I'm so envious!
This is a glorious image. Great light. Terrific leading lines. Interesting foreground and extensive depth of field.

Re: Hay Bales
What a lovely shot one little comment I would crop more off the sky as for me there is too much grey.

Re: Hay Bales
I love those occasions where the sun shines brightly on the land with dark storm clouds in the background. Always makes for a great image!
I too would probably take a bit off the top.
Thanks for posting

Re: Hay Bales
Very nice shot. Defiantly crop the top out though.

Ah, 4 seasons in one day - it can only be my beloved Highlands Great colour, depth, sharpness, composition. While I don't mind the grey as for me it's very much part of the scenery/area up there, I think the others are correct in suggesting a touch of cropping.

Re: Hay Bales
Hi Werner, I like the currently cropped image but if you do consider cropping more off the top I wouldn't take out any more than half of the solid grey and leave some breathing space above the patterned clouds.

Re: Hay Bales
Thank you all for your suggestions and comments. I posted a cropped version in the OP. I realize that photographs can't present reality but I kept the cloudy sky in the OP because the reality of the scene, and the reason I stopped to shoot it on a precariously narrow road with no turnouts nearby, was that this field had the only sunlight anywhere. Everything else was gloom and doom. It had just rained (of course), dark clouds were everywhere, the land across the loch was dark and this field just glowed a beautiful wet, saturated gold color. I wanted the OP to show enough gloom and doom to reflect that scene.
I think that the crop is compositionaly better, but I'm not sure conveys the same message. But since I experienced it, maybe I'm the only one who will see the OP that way. I do wish those upper clouds had more definition, they are rather boring.

Re: Hay Bales
Perfect that will do for me don’t crop any more off the top.
