Giving in to my Black Beauty complex
This is Darby, the newest member of our family. He's a five year old, 17.1HH Percheron/Thoroughbred cross. Getting a photo of him was quite the challenge as he was sure that the camera was a new kind of treat. While not a true black, he's close enough for me My old mare has only seen him from afar in an adjoining field, but from the way she perks up when he is led by, she also approves of him!

Very good image, Myra. Only thing I wonder about is shaving a little strip fropm the top to get rid of that little bit of sky?
I hope we can look forward to many more of this fine looking horse.

That's a beautiful shot. I hope you're printing and framing it.

Re: Giving in to my Black Beauty complex
Debbie and Donald, I wish he had stood still so I could have had a better focus on the eye
Helen, he has been turned out pretty much his whole life, and I saw pictures of him from the summer, so I think he will stay a really dark, almost black. That brown on his muzzle and around his eyes (hard to see here) would disqualify him from being a true black. In certain lights, you can also see some dark brown coat hairs.
I am so slack about printing and framing my own photos. Thanks for reminding me to do so, Maggie
