Opposite softboxes?![]()
Mike, I am really liking your makeshift studio work. Keep up the good work...you are an inspiration.
Mike, this is the best so far. I love the shapes of these objects together. It immediately made me think - curves of the female form on one side and the stronger male on the other. Love it!![]()
Thanks, everyone!
Miguel: If you're asking how it was created, a diffuser that is larger than the black background is placed behind the background. A light that is also larger than the black background is shining through the diffuser to back light the subjects made of clear glass. For a detailed (some would say boring) explanation of the setup, see my posts at Crystal lit with dark background. The setup is also explained in the book, Light: Science & Magic.
Terri: Glad to know that you see the male-female imagery and that you think it's the best one so far. It's actually the first one that is technically all there in my mind.

Nice work again, Mike.
Ditto Paul's comment. Very nice.
Impressive, I know nothing about studio wok but this looks good.
Love this Mike and as Jon says - an inspiration! With the dark nights coming in, I am looking for ideas to build some still life images and I think what you are doing is excellent.
A very graceful and dignified intimacy, Mike. Beautiful light control with superb highlight taming. Bravo.

Thank you, everyone! Loans of glass subjects are welcome!![]()
Yep..this works for me Mike. Nicely stylised and plenty going on in the intersections.
Thanks for mentioning the intersections, Sharon. Changing the angle or overlap of the two subjects dramatically changes the shape of the light where the glass intersects. I'd like to think that someday I will be able to predict the affects of those changes, but I know better.
