D600 or D800 users - anyone tried in camera Time Lapse?
I've just tried this little feature that's on the D600 and D800. Now it's nowhere near as versatile as using either the built in intervalometer or a remote intervalometer, but as a little function I think it's a great addition.
Ideally you'd shoot your frames manually and adjust in Lightroom before combining into a video clip (helping with removing of dust spots, exposure etc), but creating in camera HD time lapse on the fly is nice. The great thing, especially if you're travelling, is that the processing is done in camera leaving you with a .mov file rather than thousands of exposures to process later, freeing up card space considerably.
I'll try a link tonight to my website once I've uploaded...

Well if anyone is interested, here's a 54Mb file (it might require a good connection to view)
D600's dust spots are visible in the top left which is unfortunate. Doubly unfortunate, shooting in camera Time Lapse means you cannot adjust or fix issues like this after the fact as you can with a traditional approach to take the stills (using Lightroom afterwards)
Anyway, here's the link:
3 stop ND filer used to get an individual exposure to 1/60th at f16 and ISO100 - still not slow enough to blur the image as I would have liked. Not bad for straight out of camera though:

Very nice, it would be cool to see this at night as well. Should be beautiful with taillights and such.

Thanks for posting Phil. What frame rate and image size are you shooting at?
