Thank you, Sergio...
Hello all again....
I would be really grateful for c & c on this picture.
On one hand I like it, on the other hand I am not sure
* about the square crop and
* the main thing - does the rose look naturally against dark background ??? It is alive rose after rain..
It glistens in a lovely way..the droplets are sharp and the petals are beautifully depicted.
Hi Lara,
I think you have made a lovely picture. Whenever I have made a flower image I have found that I am let down by my lack of patience or attention to detail.
I think the shape of the crop is fine but it might be a bit close. This is a stylistic thing though.
I think background is fine it isolates the image really well.
There is a photographer Peter Singer, http://www.jonathan-singer-photography.com/jonathan/ you might like. He seems to give his flowers a little more room. His work called Botanica Magnifica is really spectacular.

Lara, To my untrained, very amateur eye, I can find nothing but beauty in this image. Very well done indeed.
Lara, I my parts we call this "Painting with light". It opens up a whole different world in my eyes.
What settings did you use, if I may ask?
Excellent image. So you used both the flash and a flashlight? Interesting....
That tiny tinge of purple at the left bottom of the flower seems a bit out of place though.
A lovely image lara. Color, saturation and sharpness are all excellent. If i were to nit pick anything, it would be the small bits at the bottom right. they draw your eye from the subject a little bit.
Would have to agree with Steve - overall, I like it. The bits of leaves on the very bottom right need to go though. Is it a tiny bit under exposed too?
This is a very interesting image indeed. In your post you said that you used a torch, but do you mean a flame torch or a flashlight? How did you use it exactly? I am very curious.
Great job!

Jacob, I don't want to answer for Lara, but just guessing, since she's from the UK, let's assume it's a flashlight - here's a link that may help you out, if you've never tried it before, you may find it interesting - just Google 'painting with light'.

Hope that helps you.
Lara this is just so romantic it brilliant. well done!
Jon and Pat... thank you very much for your comments...
I took the picture in auto mode with a built-in-flash, keeping a flashlight touch in one hand - pointed on the rose and my camera in other hand and I was looking at the rose through the viewfinder...
I can't see EXIF of pictures... I do not know why... in case you have the same problem - it came as 1/60 s at f/5.6, ISO 100, focal length 135.0 mm
