Again, I was bored at work (don't tell my boss). In the sub-basement of an old meat packing plant I found some old Amonia refridgeration equiptment that caught my eye.

Thanks Glenn. Lighting is just a flashlight and on-camera flash for some. I was in kinda a dark mood today...can you tell?

well actually i was trying to get him a pay rise so he could by a flash instead of having to use his torch which is now doing double duty on the beer bottles.

Mark, thanks for the effort on the pay raise...it is much appreciated, although I don't think the Boss would agree.

Bill, I kinda set my own schedule at work but have been extremely busy lately.

Bill, I am not really happy with the "Chicago Pump Co" shot. I really need to pay more attention to lighting. I will re-visit this again...hopefully with better results.

Here is the another version of the "Chicago Pump Co" shot. I will re-visit this one with better lighting (I hope) but I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on color vs B&W. There are aspects of each version that I personally like and aspects that I don't. I think the poor lighting set-up kills this one either way.

The colour one for me without a doubt. The warm colour of the rust really sets this one off and I think the mono is a little on the flat side. Agreed the lighting could be better :-( it's a little too directional and there's a fair bit of falloff across the picture which doesn't do it any favours. Great subject though. On this one I think I'd be really tempted to go for a really long exposure and 'paint' the scene with a flashlight, bringing forward areas of interest and subduing some other areas a little (like the background to bring out the three dimensionality (?) of this pump. Definately worth a re visit. Strange how both images kind of remind me of my car though

Paul, my thoughts exactly. I didn't have tri-pod with me and I don't think I am steady enough for a hand-held long exposure. That is definately on my mental list for the next visit. Thanks for your comments.
