Election night sunset coverage should brighten your day

Instead of watching the election coverage I headed out to the local wildlife refuge to take sunset pictures. HDR images where 5 images with different exposure settings are blended together. Enjoy

#2 does it for me Dave, but both are super. I have to admit to watching the Election coverage though as it was dark here and there was not much else on the box. It was fascinating. I really must get a life.

Both are super but I like the first one best Dave, because of the interplay between the reeds and reflection and because of the more interesting cloud pattern on the right side.

Although the horizon splits the image in half, there are bands of interesting elements that break up the monotony of the central horizon so I think it still works fairly well.

The problem with any election is that regardless of the winner, the day the election is decided, half the country is still mad at the winner!

I agree with Phil. A large metalic should be in the works. A hard choice to decide on which one though. I think #1 due to the foreground and rippled tones in the sky. I haven't seen skies like that since I left southern Alberta just north of you. Well done.

Wow Dave! Absolutely Beautiful! #2 is my favorite because it is less busy. I prefer the less cluttered foreground making the colors appear more pronounced and vibrant.

I'd just like to add my praise to what has already been written above.

If I was pushed to choose one over the other, then I would prefer the composition on the first one to that in the second. I think there is a better balance/harmony between all the elements in the first one, whereas in the second the reeds are more 'up front' and 'in-your-face'.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Being in the right place at the right time sure helps. Lucky this spot is just 5 minutes from home. Last night I thought the clouds and sky were going to be perfect but very few colors were produced.

I use Lightroom and Nik HDR Efex Pro 2 for the HDR images. Just learning the program and find it very challenging to not go overboard in the rendering of the final image.
