Nice work there Jeff! I really like No. 1 ... the diagonal ridges in the turf at the lower right add some extra eye candy without being distracting. I like the sky in that image too ... I'm probably in the minority but skies that are dramatic for some many times are distracting for me. I'm not sure it would work but if I went to the same spot I might try stepping over to the left a ways to see if I could get enough of those ridges so I could completely crop out the patch of trees that appear above them. I'm visualizing that the image would end up being cleaner and the overall diagonal flow would be more impactful.

(the spellchecker doesn't accept impactful but my dictionary does).

Looking it over again, I don't think moving to the left would work out, so I might just try cropping out the trees on this image as is but somehow I think as is is as good as it gets. That's a really nice picture, however it's done!

The first one is obviously a favourite but I like the lighting on the peak and in the sky of the third photo. The crop ratio some how seems wrong and I wonder if it would be improved by cropping horizontally so just the tip of the bright yellow tree is showing. An additional little bit of the sky would bring back to a more typical landscape format which may work better.

I wish I was there to take them - glorious scenery.

Great work Jeff. I particularly like the drama of the mountains against the warmth of the autumnal colours. I also enjoy the way that the tracks in #1 lead you into the middle ground where the colours take you back across the image before you're eyes finally find their way to the mountains and the subtle drama of the sky above. Was there something in the foreground that led you to crop differently in #1?

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I went out this morning to try out shooting from a more leftmost perspective, and the scene fell to pieces, many thanks for the suggestion though !

Yes there is the odd spot around NZ. The grass is always greener...........

Your new cropped version of photo 3 is about what I had in mind but it seems to be a bit darker and has lost some of its "kick" from the lighting on the peak. Sorry if I am a bit to demanding or fussy - I must be getting old and grumpy. Look on the bright side I would not bother commenting if I did not like it at all.
